Welcome to Swans Class 2024 2025
Year 6
Year 6 Leavers Song
What a beautiful way to say goodbye to St. Mary of the Angels. The Swans worked closely with John, our music therapist, to write a song to look back on their time over the past 8 years. There wasn't a dry eye in the room when it was performed to their parents, and then again during our final assembly with a whole school rendition to say goodbye to our Headteacher, Mrs Wilson.
Congratulations on all you acheived Year 6, we are extremely proud of you.

Fairthorne Manor 9th -13th June 2025
Day 2: Tuesday 10th June
Day two for our pupils on school journey. The children have participated in a blind trail this morning and will take part in raft building and a team challenge later today.
The children had a brilliant time putting their raft-building skills to the test this afternoon. Spirits were high, teamwork was strong and plenty of fun was had on the water.
Science - Electricity
We have become electrical apprentices! We explored making series circuits in class to try and make our bulb light up. We learned about how voltage makes a current move and how we can break a circuit to stop the flow. We then learned the symbols for different components and had a go at drawing our circuits.
"I liked making the light bulbs light up" - Yr 6 Student
"I learned that when you slowly remove the wire, the voltage gets lower and the light dims" - Yr 6 Student
Poetry Together
On Monday 11th November, Year 6 went to Central Hall Westminister for the Poetry Together event. This event was hosted by Gyles Brandreth and had a focus on bringing young and old together through poetry. We were lucky enough to meet six poets, and worked closely with Gyles and Matt Goodfellow in two workshops. Gyles taught us about short poetry, and we wrote our own poems about animals using rhymes. Did you know he has the Guinness World Record for the shortest poem?! 'Oh wet pet'.
Matt introduced us to the concept of Rebel Writing, and not being scared to use the way we talk in our poetry because it has no rules. We even got to each our lunch in the President's room! Overall, it was a very exciting and engaging day filled with rhyme, laughter and patterns.
