Day 4 - Fairthorne Manor (8th - 12th June 2026)
The rain may have poured all day, but it certainly didn't dampen our spirits!
Today, many of us faced one of our biggest challenges yet: abseiling. Climbing high up the ladder before stepping backwards over the edge took a lot of courage, and although many of us were nervous, we pushed ourselves to be brave and should feel incredibly proud of what we achieved.
We also took part in crate stacking, where teamwork was essential. We worked together to build the towers, support our climbers by keeping the ropes tight, and safely lower them back down after the inevitable crash of crates!
Other activities included water ecology, where we continued our search for tadpoles, newts and other wildlife. Groups 3 and 4 tackled a variety of team challenges, balancing on seesaws, navigating spider webs, swinging like Tarzan and solving problems together—all while getting thoroughly soaked!
Meanwhile, Groups 1 and 2 took to the lake for stand-up paddle boarding. Some children showed incredible balance, with a few even managing a forward roll on their board without getting wet. Others spent rather more time in the water than on the board... whoops!
We are now warm, dry and packed ready for our final evening. After our last dinner together, we'll be heading to the campfire before returning home tomorrow with lots of wonderful memories to share.
See you all tomorrow!
DISCO NIGHT - Fairthorne Manor (8-12th June 2026)
Last night, we joined several other schools for the Fairthorne Manor disco and danced the night away! We showed off our best moves with classics such as the Macarena and YMCA—because it's fun to stay at the YMCA (Fairthorne Manor)!
When the disco ended, we weren't quite ready for the party to stop. Back at our accommodation, Mrs Murphy introduced us to the Candy Dance, while Miss Brown and Miss Turrell shared the Australian and New Zealand tradition of the Nutbush. The girls took charge by teaching the teachers some TikTok dances, and the boys impressed everyone with some fantastic moonwalks!
There were plenty of laughs, lots of dancing and some unforgettable memories before settling into bed.
Day 3 - Fairthorne Manor (8th - 12th June)
Another action-packed day at Fairthorne Manor with groups taking part in a wide range of activities across the site despite the pouring rain!
Some children tested their balance and bravery on the stand-up paddle boards, while others put their trust in their teammates once again on the blind trail. Several groups took on the challenge of raft building, using the lessons learned from yesterday's attempts to create even better floating masterpieces!
Elsewhere, children practised their fire-lighting skills and sharpened their aim during archery, with many showing real improvement and confidence. We finished our daytime activities with some groups becoming masters of disguise during camouflage and tracking, using animal noises and movement to locate their hidden peers amongst the bushes.
Meanwhile, other groups tackled a series of team challenges, working together to solve problems, communicate effectively and support one another.
To round off the day, everyone enjoyed a well-earned visit to the tuck shop. The teachers are now looking forward to seeing all that extra sugar energy being burned off at tonight's disco!
Another fantastic day full of teamwork, resilience and plenty of smiles!
Day 2 - Fairthorne Manor (8th - 12th June)
What a busy day we've had! The children showed fantastic teamwork during the blind trail, putting their trust in their teammates to guide them safely around the course. We also took on the challenge of raft building—some rafts were more successful than others, but thankfully only a few of us ended up struggling to stay afloat!
Our archery skills continued to improve throughout the day, and we may have a few future champions in our midst. One group braved the rain to learn fire-lighting skills, while our budding scientists explored the rivers and streams during water ecology, discovering newts and other fascinating wildlife. Some groups became masters of camouflage, using mud, leaves and natural materials to hide from their peers in the bushes.
This afternoon, everyone had great fun on the giant jumping pillow, with the children determined to see just how high they could launch the teachers into the air. We finished the day with production rehearsals and a big room tidy-up before bed. A special shout-out goes to the boys, whose rooms were by far the tidiest this evening!
