Zones of Regulation

Through using the Zones of Regulation, we are hoping for children to:

  • develop the ability to identify a range of emotions and understand how the emotions make their body feel.
  • develop insights on triggers and circumstances that influence their feelings and emotions.
  • learn how their feelings and emotions affect their behaviour.
  • learn to self-regulate.

Zones of Regulation can be used by children of all ages and also adults and works at home as well as in school! Thank you again to our Year 6 pupils for continued to be excellent role models for our younger pupils.

Young Minds

Young Minds recognises that parenting isn’t always easy. Although it’s often amazing and rewarding to watch your children grow up, and to help them learn to be independent, it can also be really hard work. It can feel especially hard if your child's mood and behaviour seem different and you're not sure why, or what you can do to help. But you are not alone.

Young Minds have lots of practical advice and tips on supporting your child - from how to encourage your child to open up about their feelings to dealing with mental health services. No matter what you and your child are going through, things can get better.

World Mental Health Day: Young Minds- Thursday 10th October 2024

Thank you to Ms Hampshire and Ms Jacobs from QPR and our Caritas Ambassadors for all their hand work and effort in making this years’ World Mental Health Day a huge success!  The children worked together with QPR in order to raise the profile of wellbeing and pupil voice throughout the school. Here is a selection of voices from across the school about this years’ planned activities, shining a light on mental health. Our Caritas Ambassadors would like to thank all the pupils and staff who took part in our wear yellow campaign yesterday. Together we raised £123.30– thank you!

First Mission of the Year!

Our dedicated team of Caritas Ambassadors met this week to discuss which charity they would like to support for our first mission of the year. The Ambassadors have decided to support the charity Young Minds. St. Mary of the Angels Catholic School are going to come together with thousands of schools across the country to wear yellow on World Mental Health Day and show young people they’re not alone.

On Thursday 10th October, pupils and staff are encouraged to wear something YELLOW along with their school uniform in exchange for a voluntary donation of £1. So on the 10th October, let's come together as a school community to join other schools around the country by standing out and showing up for young people’s mental health #HelloYellow.

The children will learn more about this wonderful charity at a special assembly which will be held next week. More information regarding the planned events to follow next Friday in our school’s fortnightly newsletter.

Thank you for supporting your child in raising funds for Young Minds.
